Chasco Camera Club

Today i had the opportunity to be a guest at one of the Chasco Camera Club meetings. for my first visit it was definitely more than i had anticipated. they hold meetings twice a month and on the first meeting they try and find someone to speak about certain aspects involved in photography. This meetings guest speaker was St. Petersburg Times Photographer, Mr. Brendan Fitterer. it was an honor to listen to someone of his accomplishments speak. Hell, he’s got a dream job and is an amazing photographer as well. Makes a living doing what he loves. anything else i left out? anyways, and for that i admire him.
On the second meeting of the month they have a competition meeting where members enter photos into a monthly competition where at the end of the year i believe (but i could be wrong) they enter the monthly winners into a yearly competition. that sounds really exciting to me and i will be entering the ones in September as they don’t hold them in June, July, or August. Definitely something to look forward to though. I cant wait to see what the members submit at the end of this month as i’m sure quite a bit of them are really talented photographers.
All in all i felt really welcome there though i did have the ‘first time jitters’ being as i didn’t know anyone and it is an older crowd of people so i wasn’t sure how they would take to a young buck such as myself coming in. But i think that they were just excited for me to be there as i was to be a part of it. Any time i can get together with a group of people that share the same interests as i do and understand what i am talking about when i get into technical aspects is always a good thing. It’s all about networking people! networking! but yeah i really enjoyed being a part of the group and I will be returning.
